Everlast – Love, War and the Ghost of Whitey Ford

Oh ja, mich nerven sie, die ewigen Weltverbesser, die mir nur immer wieder sagen, dass die Welt schlecht ist und sie ein reines Gewissen haben, da sie die Erleuchtenden sind, die es erkannt haben. Das ganze gilt natürlich auch bei der Musik und da mach ich persönlich es abhängig davon, wer es sagt und vor allem wie. Nehmen wir zum Beispiel mal will.i.am: Der kann mir lange hochlyrisch die Probleme der Welt sezieren, wirklich würde es mich nicht interessieren, selbst wenn er vermeintliche Lösungen für die Probleme der Welt anzubieten hätte…

Bei Everlast dagegen erhebt das emotionale Johnny Cash-Moment die Einfachheit seiner grösstenteils lediglich anprangernden Zeilen und das offene Bekenntnis zum American White Trash, der Schmerz in den Worten und die Allmacht seiner Stimme zu mehr Relevanz.

Ich bin immer noch fasziniert vom Konzert am letzten Sonntag, dem bluesig groovigen Folk Rock Hip Hop. Unvergleichlich! Das ganze Album “Love, War and the Ghost of Whitey Ford” ist definitiv hörenswert und ich kann mirs nun nicht verkneifen, aus eben diesem die zwei neusten Videoclips zu posten, als erstes “Stone in my hand”, mit nachfolgenden Lyrics zum nachlesen:
