In the upcoming 7th season «The Walking Dead» Negan becomes the dreaded villain who stands in the way of Rick Grimes. There was already a foretaste in the season 6 finale. Little is known about the man with the baseball bat, Lucille. Now his past has been revealed in a comic, and fans are finally getting to know what Negan was up to before the zombie apocalypse. And that will blow your mind!
Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is probably one of the most interesting newcomers to the series. Apparently, Negan wasn't always the tough and ice-cold leader of the Saviors that we got to know him as in the season finale of «The Walking Dead». Because comic book readers hate Negan as much as they find him fascinating as a villain, officials have been fond of saying that Negan has the charm of a wily and ruthless car salesman. Did he really sell overpriced cars before the zombies filled the streets? A new comic finally sheds some light and gives us a glimpse of life before Negan smashed the skulls of innocent people. Image Comics recently released a little extra titled "Here's Negan" that explains the rise of the leader of the Saviors.
A comic preview gave a first look at "Here's Negan", which will have a total of 48 pages. It chronicles Negan's transformation into a villain in the zombie apocalypse. At the beginning, readers would meet a younger Negan, but even then he liked to be sarcastic and became verbally abusive. Apparently he was a teacher at a school and at the same time a ping pong coach who wanted to be perceived by his students as a cool teacher who was respected. The parallel to Travis from “Fear The Walking Dead” is interesting. After all, he is also a teacher – albeit in a completely different, well, nicer form. It will be interesting to see what "educational measures" Negan will come up with for the survivors around Rick in the future.
Negan also apparently had a wife or steady girlfriend prior to the zombie apocalypse. However, it remains unclear whether she was even alive when the zombie apocalypse started. The comic preview shows her visiting Negan at school and suddenly having a seizure and collapsing and falling to the ground in front of his eyes. We'll probably know more when the full comic comes out. Surely nobody expected that someone like Negan was once a teacher and that students were actually entrusted to him. Which job would you have given the "The Walking Dead" villain more credit for?
