More than 25 years after her last appearance, actress Linda Hamilton (60) will be back in the "Terminator" series. Filmmaker James Cameron (63) announced this at a private event in Los Angeles Hollywood Reporter.
Cameron, Schwarzenegger, Hamilton! In 2019, the rights to the «Terminator» brand created by James Cameron in 1984 reverted to him, which the «Avatar» director wants to use directly to produce another part of the long-lived series he has been working on since «Terminator 3» was no longer involved. Arnold Schwarzenegger himself has already confirmed that he will be back on board for "Terminator 6". It is now clear that he will be joined by Linda Hamilton, who is back on board as Sarah Connor. "As important as she was to female roles and action stars back then, the message that the seasoned warrior she has become is coming back will be important," Cameron said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "There are tons of movies with 50- or 60-year-old men taking out bad guys, but there's almost no example of a woman doing the same," added the Titanic and Avatar creator.
Linda Hamilton first appeared in the 1984 franchise "Terminator" as Sarah Connor. At that time, the still inexperienced waitress was confronted with the fact that she will be the mother of John Connor, who in a grim future leads the rest of the almost extinct humanity in the war against intelligent machines. To prevent this, a killer robot (Schwarzenegger) was sent back in time to kill them. In the sequel "Terminator 2 - Judgment Day" from 1991, Sarah, who has now become a hardened fighter, did everything she could to protect her son John, who himself became a target of a Terminator when he was a teenager. What Hamilton's part will look like in "Terminator 6" is not yet known. James Cameron also indicated at the said party that her and Schwarzenegger's roles should be somewhat smaller and should primarily serve as an anchor for the plot. Rather, the focus will be on new characters, above all a young woman around 18, for whom a suitable actress is currently being sought.
As The Hollywood Reporter further reports, Cameron intends to stick to his plans to create a whole new "Terminator" trilogy if he is successful. For this he and "Deadpool" director Tim Miller, who will take over the production not least because of Cameron's "Avatar" obligations, have created a Writers' Room. This also includes David S. Goyer (“Batman V Superman”), Justin Rhodes (“Green Lantern Corps”), Cameron’s former “Dark Angel” co-creator Charles H. Eglee and “Sarah Connor Chronicles” developer Josh Friedman . Based on a story idea by Cameron himself, these are developing stories that work as standalone films, but also aim to create a larger, ongoing story arc.
In 2019 "Terminator 6" will be released in cinemas. Arnold Schwarzenegger already mentioned March 2018 as the planned start of shooting a few months ago. The way the project is now progressing, this could be quite realistic.
