There are now 2011 years between the events of “Planet of the Apes: Prevolution” (10) and “Planet of the Apes: Revolution”. The following 2-minute clip tells what happened in the intervening years in the form of a news report. In just 10 years, humanity was catapulted back into the Stone Age by the Simian Flu Crisis. There are no functioning governments, no food and no internet anymore and so things are not looking good for humanity.
The virus released a decade ago wiped out most of humanity, and the few survivors dwell in urban ruins left over from their former civilization. During an expedition into the forest, a group around Malcom (Jason Clarke) meets an intelligent people of the monkeys who live there under the leadership of Caesar (Andy Serkis). Malcom and Ellie (Keri Russell) realize that they, like the people, only want to defend what is important to them: their home, their families and their freedom. Together they plead for mutual understanding and achieve a peace agreement, which, however, is of short duration. For Dreyfus (Gary Oldman) the monkeys are to blame for the virus and thus the declared enemies. He finds numerous followers who do not shy away from violence. One final scandal seems inevitable - a battle ensues that will finally decide the supremacy over the earth.
