The first episode of the new 6th season was truly successful in many ways: Not only was there a lot of action and impressive fight scenes to see, but the dialogues in this episode were surprisingly concise, profound and at the same time often just totally funny ! And there were lots of zombies too! From soothing goosebumps as you gaze at the giant herd of fullers to laughing out loud at Abraham's crude jokes, there was a lot to offer in this season premiere. Now you're probably wondering how things will continue next week. The second episode has the mysterious title "JSS". Three letters that Enid also uses in a first preview of the episode. What could they mean and how are they related to Carl Grimes' girlfriend?
The season premiere of «The Walking Dead» season 6 had a bit of everything: powerful action, coherent dialogue, exciting narrative, humor and of course lots of zombies! Rick's plan was risky, but seemed to work well for a long time, and was able to deftly lure the walkers many miles west of the quarry, away from the Alexandria Conservation Zone. This all worked surprisingly well, up to that moment when a horn or a horn suddenly sounded, which seemed to come from the direction of Alexandria and of course immediately lured the herd of fullers to it! The last pictures of the season premiere showed the huge herd, which now, lured by the noise, shuffles inexorably in the direction of the ASZ and the big question is: Who the hell is behind this horn?!
The synopsis for Episode 2 states: "As things seem to be returning to normal in the settlement, a new problem arises for the residents of Alexandria." The promo video for the upcoming episode shows: Nothing is ever quiet in Alexandria – quite the opposite! So the video begins with us seeing Deanna's son Spencer in the tower of the ASZ, aiming at something in the distance while a girl's scream can be heard in the background. We then see Carol ordering Carl to get Judith to safety before she runs out and sets about attacking whatever-or-whoever is attacking the Alexandria Safe Zone. Maggie and Deanna are also seen armed, although the horrified look on Deanna's face tells us that what she is seeing is not good at all...
“This place is too big to protect. There are too many blind spots," Enid meanwhile says to someone (maybe Carl?), while the scenes that follow seem to prove her dark theory. Thanks to a few short sequences, we see Aaron and Rosita sneaking around a house, guns at the ready; Jessie, who appears to be hiding in a closet with her youngest son, Sam, a resident of Alexandria who is bleeding profusely, Tara, who is also carried into a house where some of the others are already, and Aaron again, but this time with some blood Face! Through it all, we hear Carl resolutely proclaim, 'They won't get into this house. I won't let her in here!" However, Mr. Mini-Grimes' brave statement is not really convincing, especially when Spencer is shown again, who apparently is now face to face with one of the attackers up in the tower! Finally, there is a scene in which young Enid is shown bleeding and completely horrified in a car, which is actually outside in the forest, which probably suggests that we can see her here in a flashback.
But who are the attackers in the ASZ? The fact that they can climb high on Spencer's tower and that they can hide from the remaining residents in Alexandria seems to us to be a clear sign that it is unlikely to be Walkers, as they shuffle to Master Daryl on his bike was following the point in time. So are the Wolves behind this? Perhaps they observed the situation in the ASZ and saw how Rick and all the able-bodied residents of Alexandria made their way towards the quarry, which is why they now want to seize the moment and attack the community? In the promo video, we don't see any of the people involved in Rick's plan in Episode 1, suggesting that the events of Episode 2 will likely first take place while Rick & Co. are still with the Walkers busy and therefore miles away in the truest sense of the word. This would also explain the situation from the synopsis, according to which for the remaining Alexandrians, after Rick & Co. left, something like calm returns until "the next danger" comes around the corner. Are these new enemies also going to be beating the horn?
We also see how Enid hides alone in a car and has to fight with a few walkers. Could this be part of a flashback to your time before arriving in Alexandria? What's with the letters JSS? A few fans suspect it's the initials of advice from a deceased family member (e.g., "Just Stay Safe"). Others see this as a hidden reference to the character Jesus, who will appear in Season 6. Still others suspect the initials of deceased family members or Enid's real name. Now we're curious: what do you think JSS could mean?
