The template for "The Wolverine" is the four-part comic mini-series by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont, in which Wolverine travels to Japan to continue the search for his great love, Mariko Yashida. Once there, however, he finds that Mariko has been promised to someone else that she will soon marry the cold-hearted Noburo Mori. On top of that, Wolverine gets into a fight with Mariko's father as well as with a ninja clan called "The Hand". The so-called Silver Samurai rises from this ninja clan and becomes Wolverine's bitter opponent. Silver Samurai can infuse all materials with energy: this means he can slice through anything with his sword except Adamantium...
This sequel is directed this time by James Mangold, the director of Identity, Walk the Line and Death Train to Yuma. Hugh Jackman, who will soon be seen in the musical drama Les Misérables, will once again play Wolverine. Brian Tee ("The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift"), Will Yun Lee ("James Bond 007 - Die Another Day"), Hiroyuki Sanada and Svetlana Khodchenkova also shine in the "The Wolverine" cast. After "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" now follows the 80 million dollar sequel "The Wolverine" and this should come to the cinema in our latitudes on July 25th, 2013...
