Holy shit! The episode was intense! Last night I saw the long awaited season 5 premiere of «The Walking Dead» and boy did we get delivered. From the opening minute to the post-credits scene, this episode had it all, offering brutal acts of violence, nerve-wracking suspense and an emotional reunion, the full spectrum of human emotions was portrayed in a tight, breathless hour, so that the spectators were tied spellbound to the chair. However, in this recap I don't want to go into the actual plot of the episode - which we've all seen - but instead I want to share five things that could easily have been overlooked in this episode and what that means for the rest of the season.

Warning! If you haven't seen the season 5 premiere and want to save the moments of surprise, then you should NOT read the following article because it contains spoilers and wild speculation.

1. The return of a familiar face
No, I don't mean that familiar face yet, at the end of the episode, we'll go into that later - no, I'm talking about the blond youth whose head is smashed in and his throat slit. Unfortunately this scene was cut in the German version on FOX, if you want to see it better, can catch up on this here.
Post apocalyptic Eminem

Did you recognize him? Ok, he looked a bit like a post-apocalyptic Eminem, but actually this is Sam. Do you remember season 4 when he and his girlfriend Ana ran into Rick and Carol and Sam had problems with his shoulder? Well, the problem with the shoulder should have been resolved with this episode.

2. How Gareth will die
After Sam and three others were brutally and systematically slaughtered, Terminus Leader Gareth asked Rick what was in the pocket that he had buried outside. After some persuasion and mild threats of violence against Bob, Rick gives the details of what is known in the bag using this gem of a sentence:

It's got a machete in there with a red handle. This is the one I'm going to use to kill you.

There was a lot of "foreshadowing" in The Walking Dead, like when Lizzie was told to look at the flowers at the beginning of season 4 and Carol rammed a knife into her father's head in the meantime. One can be confident that later in the season, Gareth will feel the cold, deadly steel of Rick's machete.

3. Family tastes good
Do we think back to last season when Rick and Co. tried to shoot their way out of Terminus and one of the Termites or Terminants took a bullet in the head?
Family tastes good

It turned out to be Alex, Gareth's brother, and if we now fast forward to the season 5 premiere, to the point where Rick, Glenn, Daryl and Bob are in the slaughterhouse, we see two butchers in the background cut, chop and disassemble a human body on a table. Yup friends, you guessed it, this is Alex. It looks like Gareth has no qualms about eating his brother as a Sunday roast.
Family tastes good

And the icing on the cake is mad, bad Maria what it looks like Gareth and Alex mother and I bet their family barbecues were a blast ...
Family tastes good

4. One of the bad guys looked a lot like Negan
What I especially liked about this episode was the hint of the backstory of how the residents of Terminus became cannibals. Evidently bad men broke in, took over the site and decided to stay to do terrible things to the residents for a few weeks.
Negan

In a short flashback, we saw the leader of this gang looking for his next victim in a train car and the man looked like Negan, the big villain from the comic! Is that the first impression of the sadistic killer?

5. The return of an old friend
Also very nice in this episode was the post-credits scene and Morgan's return. But what path is he following? Morgan follows trees which are marked with a strange symbol. Who does these and where do they lead? Were they left by Rick and Daryl as markers for those who escape Terminus? Or are the signs from Gareth and the termites who escaped and are now laying a trail for the rest of the troop? Or do the symbols have something to do with those who kidnapped Beth?
The return of an old friend

It looks like the wait was worth it because the first episode of season 5 is really good. There is no boredom and if the whole season is like this, it can only be good. We are very excited and I think we can look forward to some exciting episodes of «The Walking Dead»!

"Dravens Tales from the Crypt" has been enchanting for over 15 years with a tasteless mixture of humor, serious journalism - for current events and unbalanced reporting in the press politics - and zombies, garnished with lots of art, entertainment and punk rock. Draven has turned his hobby into a popular brand that cannot be classified.

My blog was never designed to spread news, let alone get political, but with current affairs I just can't help but capture information here that is otherwise censored on all other channels. I am aware that the design page may not seem "serious" to many in this regard, but I will not change this to please the "mainstream". Anyone who is open to non-state-compliant information sees the content and not the packaging. I've tried enough to provide people with information over the last 2 years, but quickly noticed that it never matters how it's "packaged", but what the other person's attitude towards it is. I don't want to put honey on anyone's mouth to meet expectations in any way, so I'll keep this design because hopefully at some point I'll be able to stop making these political statements, because it's not my goal to go on like this forever ;) I leave it up to everyone how they deal with it. It's hard for me to describe what I'm actually doing here, DravensTales has become a culture blog, music blog, shock blog, tech blog, horror blog, fun blog, a blog about found items on the internet, internet bizarre, trash blog, art blog, water heater, zeitgeist blog over the years , Scrap blog and grab bag blog called. Everything that is right ... - and yet not. The main focus of the blog is contemporary art, in the broadest sense of the word.
