The exceptional Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn returns after "Drive" and "Only God Forgives" with a new film pregnant with neon lights. But Refn also did the confused Bronson and the lame and empty Valhalla Rising. However, once again Refn's incredible talent for captivating image composition stands out. It will be interesting to see what the jack of all trades will pull out of the hat this time. In the world of fashion, all that glitters is not gold. "The Neon Demon" examines model life and its disturbing, ominous downsides. In the first trailer, we venture into moderately lit sets alongside Elle Fanning (Maleficent), Jena Malone (Ruins), Keanu Reeves (Knock Knock) or Christina Hendricks (Lost River) and encounter more than one shady character along the way Contact. So much for the synopsis:
When aspiring model Jesse moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has.
Despite some traditional studios who would have been interested, Winding Refn opted for the new rental division of the shipping giant Amazon: "Amazon made me the best offer I could get," Refn enthused in an interview. "They gave me a three-month window for the film to be in theaters before it's streamed. That's a lot since most films only get a week and sometimes just a weekend. So now I can benefit from both worlds. This is exactly what the future looks like,” continued Nicolas Winding Refn. The film will be released in theaters via Amazon in the US&A in June and then on Amazon Prime Video. So far, no distributor has secured the rights for our latitudes.
