Unlocking The Truth - Monster

BREAKING A MONSTER begins as the three members of band UNLOCKING THE TRUTH are all in 7th grade, spending their Weekends playing a blend of heavy Metal and speed punk in Times Square – often drawing substantial crowds. They take on a manager: A 70- year-old industry veteran. With his guidance they are soon on their way to a 1.8 million dollar record deal and a precarious initiation into the music industry.

Anything feels possible, and in some Moments the band can almost feel the eyes of the world gazing upon them. The boys are coming of age, not only as they make the leap to being professional musicians, but also as they transcend childhood and take their first steps into the complexities of adulthood. The accelerated breakout of any band, let alone one of pre-teens, is an extremely narrow and specific period in time – BREAKING A MONSTER is the story of this rapid transformation.

Unlocking The Truth: Teen band on the way to Metal Olympus

Über Alec, 13, Jarad, 12, und Malcolm, 13, we reported in the tomb almost a year ago. You go in the seventh grade of a New York school and go at their leisure skateboard and play in a band. Der Durchbruch gelang den Jungs während der Amateur Night im Apollo Theater, where it is still as „Tears of Blood“ („Tränen aus Blut“) occurred. It was followed by appearances in Times Square, in Queens and an evening show at Hank's Saloon in Brooklyn – obwohl sich dort eigentlich keine Minderjährigen aufhalten dürfen. Seitdem geht es für das Trio steil bergauf: Als jüngste Band aller Zeiten spielten Alec, Jarad und Malcolm in diesem Jahr auf dem legendären Coachella Festival, waren ausserdem Vorband für Guns NRoses in Las Vegas und werden sich bald einen grossen Traum erfüllen: at the 9. August, they occur on the Heavy Montreal Festival, wenige Stunden vor ihrem Vorbild METALLICA.

Unlocking The Truth

Nun der vorläufige Höhepunkt: Alan Sacks, A Manager von „Unlocking The Truth“, said the „New York Post“, dass die Band einen Plattenvertrag mit Sony in Höhe von 1,8 Millionen Dollar über fünf Alben abgeschlossen hat. Für das Debütalbum, the more than 250’000 Must be time to sell, würde die Band 60’000 Get buck, beim zweiten Album wären bereits 325’000 Dollar fällig. Die Band habe schon genug Material für drei Alben, writes the U.S. magazine „Billboard„. Later this month, the teens want to go into the studio and record their first EP.

Unlocking The Truth - Malcolm Brickhouse & Jarad Dawkins

Diese metalband aus Brooklyn, wo sich ausser Hip Hop kaum noch etwas anderes in der Muttermilch befindet und Biohazard zum ganz alten Eisen gehört, noticed a few weeks ago for the first time with a couple of videos of street music gigs, on which they have taken just once the Times Square apart completely. The guys from „Unlocking The Truth“ go to the sixth grade and are 12 Years old! And the louts have something of it, the style, which they use, is unusual and according to her statement rap is boring! I hope, they remain true to themselves and are not sold off by any producer as Internet phenomenon and deal ironed. Ingenious as the Small impregnates his guitar, reminiscent of Hendrix. Above you see a portrait of the band of the AvantGarde Diaries, which arose before the accession of new bassist Alec Atkins, At Noisy's an interview With „Unlocking The Truth“ and below you can a TV appearance on Fox‘ FX‘ Totally Biased bewundern. The party has just begun for the boys only. The only question I ask myself: Is that „Real Black Metal“?

Unlocking The Truth, a metal band composed of twelve year old Malcolm Brickhouse and eleven year old Jarad Dawkins, is playfully arguing about which member can play a faster and more forceful rendition of their self-composed instrumental blast “Physical Therapy.” While Jarad is technically the drummer (he mastered the instrument by the age of two), he is convincingly demonstrating his guitar chops. Being the precoucious, and yet consummate, professionals that they are, the band wants to make sure that in a worst case scenario – say, a member fainting onstage – each could play The Other’s instrument flawlessly.

It is not atypical for Unlocking the Truth to practice for up to ten hours on Weekends. They are so immersed in their music that they barely notice anything going on around them, including their parents, who usually have to force them to stop practicing when it’s bedtime. While their classmates mostly listen to radio pop or rap, Malcolm and Jarad’s enthusiasm for metal was nurtured while watching generous amounts of WWE professional wrestling.
