Album Review: Pro-Pain – Voice Of Rebellion

Not musically, but also in „Pro-Painweiss man bei jedem Album schon vor dem ersten Hören ziemlich genau, what to expect. So behaupten böse Zungen gerne, that it completely, in principle, sufficient an album of New York in his collection to have. This assertion lacks as „Motorhead“ and „AC/DC“ not a certain truth, because even on „Voice Of Rebellion“, dem inzwischen fünfzehnten Album der Band, sind die Veränderungen erneut nur marginal wahrnehmbar. Während Kritiker gerne den angeblichen Stillstand der Truppe bemängeln, so kann man dieses scheinbare Manko auch umgekehren und als Stärke der Band Verlässlichkeit nennen. Anyone choosing as fans the latest work can be sure, that he thus gets exactly, of what he Meskil and Co. expected: Melodic Soli, heftige Doublebass Gewitter und das heftige Gebrüll des Frontmannes, of such always kein Blatt vor den Mund nimmt und weiterhin mit einer gewaltigen Wut im Bauch die Missstände dieser Welt anprangert.

Pro-Pain - Voice Of Rebellion

For more than 20 Years blown away Gary Meskil (Bass / vocals), Marshall Stephens (Rhythmusgitarre), Adam Phillips (Leadgitarre) and Jonas Sanders (Drums) mit hübscher Regelmässigkeit immer wieder ein neues Pfund ins Gesicht! Mit verlässlicher Routine Put us pretty much every two years a new album, this time it is „Voice Of Rebellion“, kaum dass sein Vorgänger von 2013, „The Final Revolution„, abgekühlt ist. In their discography vary Mr. Meskil and his colleagues has always been at best the proportion of Hardcore and Thrash Metal, at the „Voice Of Rebellion“ again quite clearly tends toward the latter, yet the final result always „Pro-Pain“ and their very own definition of Metalcore or. Crossover. That's been going on for now 23 Jahren so und wird sich in diesem Leben wohl auch nicht mehr ändern. „Voice Of Rebellion“ strotzt wieder nur so vor Meskils angepisstem Trademark-Pitbull-Gebrüll, rabid / groovy riffs and brutal double bass barrage, as long as the eardrum participates. Something stimulates the „Pro-Pain“-Mainman immer noch auf und er macht seinem Ärger in bewährter Manier, passionately and with the usual emphasis air.

Pro Pain - Take It To The Grave

„Pro-Pain“ liefern mit gewohnter Konstanz und Qualität ab. Legs and learn shows „Uncle“ Gary den Jungschwänzen, „where the Bartl brings the new wine“ und da kann allerhöchstens die Speerspitze der jungen Garde mithalten. Abseits von Äusserlichkeiten wie Klamotten, all kinds of Body Modifications, hip Polit- and life settings, präsentiert sich der Veteran glaubwürdig, authentic and genuine. Dies gilt sowohl für sich selbst als auch für seinen Sound. Were the last tasting all at V.O. Added powder in Little Greek club, went this time to Florida from Sound Lounge, wo sich Mastermind-Gary mit Corey Williams selbst um die Produktion kümmerte. Have come out 14 Songs full of anger, crisp diet and coarse alignment, die stellvertretender nicht hätten ausfallen können. Bereits der eröffnende Titeltrack walzt alles nieder, what it gets in the way: „This is the Voice of Rebellion“, barks Meskil into the microphone and with such a lot of foam at the mouth, that one Fear und Bange werden könnte.

Pro-Pain Band

But that's only the beginning. Songs wie „No Fly Zone“, „Souls On Fire“ or the thumping HC punk broadside „Take It To The Grave“ are the initial fireworks in terms of penetration and playfulness in every way. „Voice Of Rebellion“ verwöhnt uns mit straightem Hardcore-Thrash wie bei „Righteous Annihilation“ and „Beautiful Death“ und leichten Punk-Einflüssen wie zum Beeispiel bei „Cognitive Dessonance“. Überdies haben „Pro-Pain“ on this album songs in the repertoire, which resonate louder and more powerful than ever, as the Monster-Groover „Age Of Disgust“ und dem völlig wahnsinnigen „Enraged“. The force is contagious, cold as a dog's snout and the song material is never boring. The continuous level, mit dem die New Yorker seit vielen Jahren ihre Unterfangen würzen, has failed this time rough. And forward is cursed, grunted and gerotzt.

Pro Pain - Age Of Disgust

Ultimately, is undecided, whether „Pro-Pain“ nun tatsächlich wie der Albumtitel vermuten lässt die „Voice of rebellion“ are. Amidst all compelling compromise the tracks are all played at the point and cut again and again Reinsvoll. Meskil manages a homogeneous whole of Hardcore, Thrash / Metal including a massive addition of heavy grooves. Der Mastermind kommt aggressiv und straight rüber und man sollte ihm nicht blöd kommen. certainly not, when it comes to gridlocked social or political views, with which the Pro Pain-Chef is always at loggerheads. Dann gibts nämlich ordentlich einen auf den Latz – in the form of Music. Overall, the 15. In your Face!

Album Review: Pro-Pain – The Final Revolution

Friends, it's time for pain! Gary Meskil never tires and Pro-Pain rumble again through the speakers! The New York hardcore legend brings us „The Final Revolution“ a small and delicate step „Back to the Roots“, but it is the last album was somewhat thrashy. Bandmaster, Singer and bassist Gary Meskil sat alone at home there and sometimes just composed all the songs alone. Here is everything from self-reflected view- and processed, what you experience every day so. The result was Numero album 14, an angry grooving Hardcore-Monster, which presents the well-known and distinctive musical side of the band in the best light.

Pro-Pain - The Final Revolution

About the New York quartet Pro-Pain no longer has to lose many words of explanation. Since its groundbreaking debut album „Foul Taste Of Freedom“, the early nineties has been nominated for several awards, has the band around Gary Meskil the affection and the respect of countless fans around the world earned and is now rightly regarded as true Hardcore Metal-Legend. All your albums are a paragon of intensity, Intransigence, Inspiration and honesty. The quartet sounded on the last two albums always something different and tried out new. Beginning 2010 With „Absolute Power“, on which one went to work with a lot of melody and new trends continued in the direction of Metal. 2012 was then „Straight To The Dome“ the accelerator again depressed neatly and fast hardcore and thrash paid tribute. Now it's back lot darker and classical works to. Ways traps are the keyboard filler and harmonious chants. The entire Music and all texts has Meskil at his home in Sarasota (Florida) written and you can hear that. The twelve Issue 14. Album were at Little Creek Studio in Gelterkinden (Switzerland) by producer V.O. Powder (Gurd) recorded, mixed and mastered.

Pro-Pain - The Making Of "The Final Revolution"

Even if Meskil has always been the band head, so he could at times even have a fairly stable line-up. At least for many years he was with guitarist Tom Klimchuck another founding member aside, who accompanied him to the very end on the permanent occupation dizzying carousel. This had already been years ago to fight from time to time with health problems and had to finally throw in the towel. So now rather less well-known musicians gather around Gary Meskil, support him well in the studio and mainly on the stage, to present his new songs. Thus, the surprises keep but without co-songwriter thankfully limited. Everything moves at a high level and is just plain fun! There are no compromises and no gimmicks, once times were used, what we can do a hit hardly find. „To make things as interesting as possible, I decided, to take the helm firmly in the hand and to compose any songs on his own. This is the first Pro-Pain album since the nineties, on which I wrote it all alone.“ so Meskil. The production is rough and direct,, the recent resonances it are absolutely positive. Meskil: „The album sounds extremely pissed, So just as, like a great Pro-Pain album should sound. task completed!“

Pro-Pain

The twelve songs offer typical Pro-Pain riffs and beats, the latter being clearly jazzed by the fit Drummer. Formerly the good Meskil to frequently used Colleague Drum-Computer. But the two guitarists may let off steam and shine with occasional leads and beautiful solos. The pieces are usually located in the mid-tempo, except for a few uptempo escapees and rarely exceed the 3:00 Minutes, and that's good, because that is the simple pieces entertaining in literally. Meskil roars his message out monotonous as always and who bands like „Hatebreed“ or „Sick Of It All“ may, the is this stylistic device familiar! „The Final Revolution“ is a plate, the skin tough and with Irrem punch right in the face and this over and over again, twelve tracks long. This is exactly the shit here, for the boys from New York City were always and has been celebrated in the 90s, because he blows through the head and sounds like he sounds: Pissed, direct and uncompromising.

Pro-Pain Logo

The opener „Deathwish“ bangs neatly in the best and most famous Pro-Pain-style out of the boxes and Adam Phillips allowed here or at „Can’t Stop The Pain“ solos wildly. Drummer Jonas Sanders drives the double bass broadside on and the boss himself has allowed some creaky-crisp bass Escapades, Pro-Pain are hardcore life and always will be. „Southbound“ on geographical root localization, the enormously repetitive while igniting „All Systems Fail“ and the powerful grooving „Mass Extinction“ here are the hottest contenders in addition to the brilliant title track, the one no longer likes to miss after the first listening test. Qualitatively strongly sloping Filler did not exist at Gary Meskil always, also unscheinbarere songs like „One Shot, One Kill“ or „Emerge“ have their moments. Special favorite could also „Want Some?“ will, which, with its aggressively challenging Apostrophe tends toward rap and with initial on / off dynamic a little variety to the otherwise very homogenous album brings. Gladly such small outliers have may surface frequently. Also from the in „Problem-Reaction-Solution“ Backings succeeded employed it would at all Love strong for Meskils, can give charismatic voice more. But that is whining at a high Nivea. „Fall From Grace“ animated irresistible for headbanging and with „Under The Gun“ ends „The Final Revolution“ a perfect example of original crossover between hardcore and thrash metal.

Pro-Pain

Is that good or bad? Well, wer es straight mag, but on predecessors „Straight To The Dome“ especially the thrash metal felling estimated, is disappointed this time. Hier gibts im Grunde nur Hardcore Dynamik in your face, garnished with some fine solos. The new Pro-Pain-disc is again exactly, what do you expect from the band and thus - as expected - as revolutionary, as it is unleaded gasoline today. However, this interferes little, Because „The Final Revolution“ is fun and shows, that the formation still neat fire has meaty. Pro-Pain make everything as always and thus everything right – you just know, what has this band. Especially production technology fits this time everything. The guitars fry properly, wummert the bass, the drums are audible, but fortunately not overproduced and Meskils usual furious barking the product refined finally into a homogeneous whole. Album Title, Cover artwork and finally the music itself lead exactly from, as indicated – Lower ram at full throttle all, what is also just kind of get in the way. Chef Gary Meskil ist Idealist, musically and politically: „My lyrics come straight from the heart and reflect my life experiences. I am very passionate about the course of events and interested in my role in the world. I sing about the plight of the common man and try at the same time, not to teach the people. Because if you want to, that his opinion is respected, you have to have placed in the same respect to other opinions in reverse. The inspiration I only use myself, Therefore, my lyrics are always Ehrlich and passionate.“ Permanent Napalm is in the air and Pro-Pain do not even think, to einzubremsen only one second.

Yield from Pro-Pain concert

Oha, I just realized, I have not all held here on the blog, what that Pro-Pain concert last Wednesday concerns. I was gifted with a most abundant Pro Pain Shirt, signed by the band, welches mir feierlich von Sonja überreicht wurde und ich mich hiermit nochmals herzlichst bedanke! Da Sonja um meinen Schädel Spleen weiss, hat sie mit allem Charme und jeglicher Überzeugungskraft die Band davon zu überzeugen versucht, that shirt is not only simple autographs, sondern gleich mit Schädeln zu verzieren. What came out here, shown in the following image:

The two old Warhorses Gary Meskil und Tom Klimchuck können offensichtlich nicht wirklich etwas mit Schädeln anfangenkein Merchandising Stück der Band ziert ein Skull und so habe ich nun auf meinem Shirtwie mir höfflichst erklärt wurde – two skulls of the band on it, die einfach das Fleisch und alles noch dran haben und wenn ichs bräuchte, I should imagine the budget without, Namely, at all and anyway. Gezeichnet wurden auf alle Fälle zwei Selbstportraits und zwar von Gary und Tom und was soll ich sagen, I turn ne Saufreude :)

To conclude on the balance of this article I will not miss it, Expect the Pro Pain Website noted, auf der ihr sämtliche Machwerke der Herren direkt per Paypal bei der Band kaufen könnt, Songs gibts für 99 Cents and ne disc as „Age Of Tyranny – The Tenth Crusade“ For $6.49. So Friends of the Crypt, buy, buy, buy! Ich für meinen Teil klebe hier nun noch den Song „Time Will Tell“ the crypt. I’m on a quest for vengeance and time will tell, gotta break the silence and bend the rules, it’s a paid vacation on a ship of fools!

Pro-Pain - Live Free (or die trying)

With so much promise in our eyes,
why are we fighting?
Potential’s never realized,
and we’re all denying
the accusations of who we are.
We’re shunned and branded the most by far.
At best our freedoms are shorn away
with all dissension kept at bay.

and I know you know there really must be something Wrong.
the end results of getting fucked too fucking long.
Our social systems getting worser by the day.
Afford yourself another chance, another way

to Live Free………or die trying !!

Why bother trying when it’s all in revelation?
The cryptic writing’s in our halls across the nation.
So organize and collect yourself
and don’t depend on no one else.
We the minions are lost inside
an empty place where souls have died

for our sins and sorrows in a quest for better days.
Vital resources getting stretched too many ways,
and it tests your sanity from dusk ‚to fucking dawn.
We’re mad as hell, now it’s fucking on!!

So Live Free or die trying!!
