  • The first shooter
Carved in stone on Saturday, January 3rd, 2009 – comments: (1)
In 1000ff I came across the following nice article, from which I simply must quote an excerpt. Worth reading the whole post:In historically conscious gamer circles indexed in Germany games Wolfenstein 3D and Doom from id Software forged are generally considered grandfather and father of the shooter actually Genres.Warum? Back in April 1991, over a year before the first publication of DOS Wolfenstein 3D, Adrian Carmack and John brought along with John Romero and Tom Hall, a first-person shooter on the market, who had almost everything, what Wolfenstein 3D was praised. From a trigger-Mech Hitler as boss aside times. And the commercial success was also "Rescue a bunch of scientists." - Tell stories has never id Software's strength. The alleged scientists, the one on the way through the maze, Ahh, collects, see more like clownish rouged children (cool sound effects btw.).The comparison to Wolfenstein 3D imposed itself on: Game principle and first-person perspective are equal, the fuzzy control, Textures for ceilings and floors are missing, Objects are simple 2D sprites.

Carved in stone on Thursday, January 8th, 2009 – comments: (1)
Los Angeles. 2064. The world has changed. The dead have risen from their graves and corpses walk the earth. The government, unable, the growing number of undead to keep in check, decides, that the living must co-exist together with the dead. And in peace. The company is drummed, that the word „Zombie“ politically incorrect is, thus the undead „Life impaired“ called and it got to be in fact as the living: Some are winners, the other Loser…. Very witty approach, well and with much irony processed and implemented, fun!
