Fortunately, the days of glam rock, teased manes and spandex pants are long gone. But some bands still hold out today. One of the prototypes, Mötley Crüe, ceded yesterday, November 9th, 2015, finally and with a loud bang. That evening, 67-year-old shock rock veteran Alice Cooper played the opening act. The Crüe will play their very last concert on December 31st in their home town of Los Angeles and whoever wants to know what megalomania looks like on stage has always found what they are looking for at Mötley Crüe, including yesterday. The band offered the biggest show in their history, with huge pyro effects - including a fire-breathing bass for Nikki Sixx (Rammstein sends his regards) - and a track-mounted drum kit, the "Cruecifly“, With which drummer Tommy Lee whizzed through the St. Jakobshalle like on a roller coaster.

Mötley Crüe finally on the final tour in Basel

Last night, the time to say goodbye came for the fans of the glam metal band Mötley Crüe. Mötley Crüe, one of the most scandalous bands of all time, for many metal fans just posers who can barely hold their instruments in their hands, are one of the most colorful musical representatives of the 80s. Now Nikki Sixx, 56, Vince Neil, 54, Tommy Lee, 53 and Mick Mars, 64 have played their last gig in Switzerland on their last Torunee, announced by the band as a “Final Tour”. Mötley Crüe's impressive career is due to come to an end on December 31, 2015 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Before that they play their “Final Tour” and stopped in Basel on Monday to say goodbye to the fans in the St. Jakobshalle. In contrast to the Appearance 3 years ago in the same location, the hall was half full this time and I have never seen the upper tiers of the hall being covered by a black curtain. The audience consisted mostly of fans who had seen the band's most glorious epoch, but younger metalheads were also there to celebrate an excessive farewell with the band and the rest of them stayed at home and watched “The Walking Dead”, yes almost the same… ;)

When singer Vince Neil, drummer Tommy Lee, guitarist Mick Mars and bassist Nikki Sixx got together in Los Angeles in 1981, they only had one thing on their mind: to get by with sex, drugs and rock'n'roll. Nikki, whose real name is Frank Ferrano, meets Tommy Lee in LA, who at the time was nicknamed T-Bone because he had hardly any meat on his bones. Next they bump into guitarist Robert Alan Deal, who soon changes his name to Mick Mars. In their search for a rhythm guitarist, they finally stumbled upon Vince Neil Wharton, who was a perfect singer for the trio, and shortly afterwards they played their first gig in the opening act for Y&T. Already in the first months after the establishment, they attracted attention with their extreme passion for parties and colorful costumes. They add umlauts to their band name, a deviation from 'Motley Crew', which means 'colorful heap', because they consider Löwenbräu their favorite beer.

For $ 6000 they recorded their debut "Too Fast For Love" (1981). Initially only available at their gigs, they signed an official record deal with Elektra in 1982. At that time they were already doing their first headlining tour through Canada, but mainly playing in smaller clubs and gay bars. But already with their second album “Shout At The Devil” they achieved their breakthrough in 1983, which brought them major concerts in California, an Australian tour as the opening act for Kiss and a US tour with Ozzy Osbourne. Europe is slowly starting to benefit from the band, too. In the opening act for Iron Maiden, the quartet uses up quite a few cans of hairspray. But no success without a scandal is their motto. First a 'Committee On Pornography In Rock Music' of the US Senate criticized the band for texts that glorify violence and are misogynistic. Then a coked, naked Sixx hits a mast with his Porsche. Finally, Neil has a terrible accident when he drives into another car while drunk. His co-driver Razzle, drummer from Hanoi Rocks, dies and the occupants of the vehicle involved get away with life-threatening injuries.

Instead of driving forever to the construction site, Neil has to serve 30 days, do 200 hours of social service and pay $ 2,6 million in damages. After Neil undergoes therapy, the collective drinking happily continues. Although “Theater Of Pain” (1985) is dedicated to the deceased friend, the lifestyle of the Party Animals does not change. On the subsequent tours, the band's drum riser, known since then, will be used for the first time, who swings Tommy Lee across the air during his drum solo and can even play upside down. After Lee married Heather Locklear in May '86, Neil finally found the time to serve his 30 days in jail, of which he actually only spent 18 behind the Swedish curtains. On “Girls, Girls, Girls” (1987), the Crüe found their way back to their old theme, but showed themselves to be much harder. The album reached number two in the US charts and only had to admit defeat to Whitney Houston. For the tour, the quartet initially signed Whitesnake and a little later Guns N'Roses as the opener. On a drug-filled evening in Slash's hotel room, Sixx almost succumbs to a heroin overdose during the Japan tour - as in “Pulp Fiction”, an adrenaline injection saves him in the heart. According to his own statements, the bass player had already been in Valhalla for two minutes and probably laid a few Valkyries there. Elektra then gives the band the choice of withdrawing or standing without a contract. She decides on the first option.

In the summer of 1989 they played with Bon Jovi, Ozzy Osbourne, Skid Row and the Scorpions in front of 100 spectators in Moscow. The live broadcast on television is said to be even attended by a billion people. The global attention is bearing fruit: The album “Dr. Feelgood ”reached # 000 on the US charts and sold over three million times in the home country. Besides Bryan Adams, Steven Tyler and Skid Row some other guests are represented on the album. The subsequent mammoth tour around the world is almost completely sold out. Both Mick and Nikki got married in 1 and after the best-of “A Decade Of Decadence” came out, new material started. Not without problems, though, as Neil falls back on alcohol and is more interested in car racing than music. The band fires him and gets John Corabi as a substitute. The result “Mötley Crüe” (1990) is their most expensive production to date, but sells sparse, like the tickets for the tour. Neil meanwhile continues solo and gets the former Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens and the ex-Ozzy Osbourne bassist Phil Soussan for his band. The debut of the Vince Neil Band is still selling quite decently, but things are not looking so rosy with the following releases. After Corabi had to take his hat back at Mötley Crüe, he started the band Union together with the former Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick. Since none of this is necessarily the yellow of the egg, Mötley Crüe bring Vince back into the band.

In the meantime, only drummer Lee manages to keep making headlines. His antics are as famous as Mick Jaggers, his wedding and arguments with Bay Watch silicone breasts Pamela Anderson have ruled the world’s gazettes for years. A video that shows the two of them having sex by the pool causes overloading of many an Internet line. In contrast, a children's party in Lee's villa in 2001 made sad headlines when the son of German actress Ursula Karven drowns in the pool. A negligent homicide trial ends in an acquittal. The activities around Mötley Crüe are also not very glamorous. Neil returns in 1997, after the album “Generation Swine” and a tour (partly as an opener for Type O Negative), which is determined by rioting and arguments, Lee throws in the towel. While he was founding the metal rap band Methods Of Mayhem and had a great success with the album of the same name in 2000, his ex-band signed the former Ozzy Osbourne drummer Randy Castillo. With their joint studio work “New Tattoo” (2000) they landed a flop and the tour with Megadeth and Anthrax did not bring the expected success either. After the publication of the autobiography “The Dirt” (2001), which was well worth reading, and Castillo's death from cancer in 2002, Mötley Crüe virtually dissolved. The tattooed drummer Lee devotes himself mainly to the opposite sex, but Pamela Anderson sends him back to the desert. At the end of 2003, it was Pink who took a bite on his hook, but soon said goodbye. In the meantime, Nikki Sixx starts the Brides Of Destruction with Tracii Guns (Ex-LA Guns). He is also active as a songwriter and writes for Saliva, Drowning Pool and Tantric. Meanwhile, the media attention is focused on Tommy and in the background other people are imperceptibly pulling the Mötley Crüe strings.

A certain Mags Revell, British promoter for the Metropolis Music Group, gets the ball rolling again by launching an initiative whose aim is to get the original members of the Crüe to reunite. Thanks to the Internet, he soon received enormous popularity from frustrated Mötley fans. On his own he reserves venues in Great Britain and practically forces the band to perform there, otherwise the good Mags would have suffered financial shipwreck. Obviously, Vince, Nikki, Mick and Tommy needed that ass kick, because after they learned that tens of thousands of fans are drooling for a reunion in the United Kingdom alone, it will finally be official on December 6, 2004. At a press conference, the quartet announced that they would go on tour together again and also want to record new material. The press hoopla about Mötley Crüe even leads to the fact that the server of the official site goes to its knees because of this news, the interest of the fans really seems to be there. The motto of the tour is not to mess, but to plop down. Under the banner “Red, White And Crüe Tour… Better Live Than Dead” it only stops in the big halls.

In addition to the Mötley reunion, Tommy Lee tries again as a solo artist. He records with members of Incubus and the Deftones, and has released two solo albums “Never A Dull Moment” (2002) and “Tommyland - The Ride” (2005). After that, however, the Americans saddle their chickens and go on a tour of Australia with Motörhead. Before the band's new material comes onto the market, the biography “The Dirt” will be released as an audio book via Nuclear Blast Records, read by actor and jail brother Ralf Richter. In the summer of 2006 they are touring the US with Aerosmith, but at the same time they are working on a new album. Nikki is now active as Sixx AM, Mick helps the Finns from Crashdiet with ideas and likes to bring his songwriting skills to other uses. In fact, they are back in 2008 with the strong “Saints Of Los Angeles”. While Nikki in particular collects some merits as an author and photographer in addition to his music, singer Vince Neil also tried his hand at the field in 2010 and released “Tattoos & Tequila”, both as a book title and on CD. In 2011 there was even a tour with the less appreciated Poison, without the tatters flying on or behind the stage. Obviously you get older, or more professional or simply tired, from eternal sex, drugs and rock'n'roll.

So now the “Final Tour”, for which Mötley Crüe even signed a contract that they will never be allowed to perform together again afterwards. According to their own statements, the Crüe does not want to end up as old jokes. There are already enough of them. Once cool bands that have passed their zenith but would continue to crawl around on some stage. In the end, the audience would only have pity. That shouldn't happen to Crüe - they want the fans to remember them fondly. “Tonight we are celebrating 34 years of music by Mötley Crüe”, announces singer Vince Neil. Then not only the pyrotechnicians, but also Mötley Crüe fire from all pipes. At the start of the show, everything is as covered as the glam rock from the 80s demands: fireballs and sparks shoot from the stage, background singers also act as lascivious dancers, Tommy Lee's drums roll along rails along the ceiling, so the drummer can play his solo upside down. The band lives up to its excessive image. Mötley Crüe are not fans of emotional speeches - even though they are on the last tour in the band's history. They prefer to let actions speak for themselves.

None of the hits like “Girls, Girls, Girls”, “Dr. They leave out Feelgood ”,“ Kickstart My Heart ”or“ Wild Side ”in just under two hours. The four Americans are no longer the youngest, but they hardly show any signs of tiredness. It is not clear whether they paid a price for all the parties and drug stories of their long careers. But by his own account, Nikki's shoulders are broken, Vince's joints are damaged and practically everyone is numb. Today they all look almost excessively at their health in order to cover up to some extent the massacre they wrought on their bodies. “Everything is ok”, according to Neil, “Being alive is all that matters.” “We have all changed, got older and wiser,” said Tommy Lee in a recent interview. They have been touring the world since 2014 to say goodbye. "Sometimes it was a bit like a funeral," says Tommy Lee. In Basel it was a funeral in high spirits and the fans dressed appropriately for the occasion: hairspray manes, motorcycle leather jackets and bandanas. "Everything bad has to come to an end", Vince Neil calls out to the crowd in Basel: "Always remember: We are Mötley Crüe!" Rest In Peace, Glam Rock Kings!

"Dravens Tales from the Crypt" has been enchanting for over 15 years with a tasteless mixture of humor, serious journalism - for current events and unbalanced press reporting politics - and zombies, garnished with lots of art, entertainment and punk rock. Draven has turned his hobby into a popular brand that cannot be classified.

My blog was never designed to spread news, let alone get political, but with current affairs I just can't help but capture information here that is otherwise censored on all other channels. I'm aware that the design page may not seem "serious" to many in this regard, but I won't change it to please the "mainstream". Anyone who is open to non-state-compliant information sees the content and not the packaging. I've tried enough to provide people with information over the last 2 years, but quickly noticed that it never matters how it is "packaged", but what the other person's attitude towards it is. I don't want to put honey on anyone's mouth to meet expectations in any way, so I'll keep this design because hopefully at some point I'll be able to stop making these political statements, because it's not my goal to go on like this forever ;) I leave it up to everyone how they deal with it. It's hard for me to describe what I'm actually doing here, DravensTales has become a culture blog, music blog, shock blog, tech blog, horror blog, fun blog, a blog about found items on the internet, internet bizarre, trash blog, art blog, water heater, zeitgeist blog over the years , Scrap blog and grab bag blog called. Everything that is right ... - and yet not. The main focus of the blog is contemporary art, in the broadest sense of the word.
