According to CNN, the body of the al-Qaeda leader was found and identified. Osama bin Laden is dead, and several family members are said to have died. He is said to have been killed near Pakistan's capital Islamabad. US President Barack Obama will announce this in a short-term televised address, CNN reported late on Sunday evening.
Bin Laden was considered to be the mastermind behind the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, in which around 3.000 people died. The White House had surprisingly scheduled a press conference for the US President on Sunday evening, which should begin at 22.30 p.m. local time (04.30 a.m. CEST). The big question is, what does this do with active terrorists?
