Below is the video for the first single «First Kill» from the upcoming Amon Amarth album «Jomsviking». The Swedes' tenth studio album will be released on March 25th and will be the first concept album from Johan Hegg and co., telling a story of love and revenge set in the world of the Jomsvikings. Hegg reveals about the plot:
The Yomsvikings were a shadowy and legendary Viking mercenary force that is still surrounded by the same myth today as it was when they fought their way through Europe and the Middle East. They were ruthless and deadly warriors who fought for whoever paid them best. They had a simple code: Don't be afraid. Never back down. Defend your brothers and if asked to do so, avenge their deaths. I had the feeling that we as a band were ready to use the history of the Jomswikinger as a starting point for an AMON AMARTH album. The Yomsvikings and their world form the background to the story of a young man who loves a girl who is married to another man. When he hears about it, he accidentally kills a man and has to flee - but he swears revenge and wants to win the girl back. The past does not let go of him. He feels betrayed and his life has been ruined. And as you can imagine, there is no happy ending.
Well then guys, get out your drinking horns and turn up the speakers, epic Melodic Death Metal is waiting to wash your ears. At least that's what can be assumed after you've built "First Kill" into it.
