«Dave Made A Maze» is the directorial debut of actor Bill Watterson («Ouija», «Jersey Boys», not to be confused with the comic book writer and «Calvin and Hobbes» creators of the same name). In the trailer, Watterson shows us an elaborate cardboard world brought to life through stop-motion and puppet effects. On January 21, 2017, the fantastic adventure celebrates its premiere at the American Slamdance Film Festival, so far nothing is known about a local release. Unsuccessful artist Dave (Nick Thune) builds a fort out of cardboard boxes in his living room out of sheer desperation. But there is more to his retreat than he thought: Dave disappears into a magical world full of supernatural dangers, traps and creatures that he can no longer escape so easily. Despite Dave's warnings, his girlfriend Annie (Meera Rohit Kumbhan) assembles a rescue team, who are also soon consumed by the ever-changing cardboard world. And then there's a bloodthirsty Minotaur on the heels of the rescuers...
God save me from well-meaning idiots and give me a cunning enemy.
