The most difficult thing for a musician is to compete against his own best performance. Bruce Springsteen has become known for his rousing, hour-long concerts and yesterday, as part of his “Working On A Dream” tour, he set out to defend this reputation even at the age of almost 60. And he did this extremely successfully!
At the start of the concert yesterday, 40 fans could hardly believe their ears, Springsteen's E Street Band started with local folklore: a musician from the band performed the folk song "Ds Vogu-Lisi" on an accordion until Springsteen himself came on stage and joined in “Badlands” starts the evening. «How are you? I'm happy to be in Bern."
The organizers expected the Stade de Suisse to be almost sold out in the run-up to the concert, I doubt that the concert was sold out. Whatever the case, the singer clearly still enjoys being on stage live even after decades. “The first thing I do when I come out every night is look at the faces in the front row. "Sometimes I find a certain person and then I play just for them the whole evening," the musician told USA Today. “Of course I make music for everyone in the audience, but sometimes I look at two or three people and decide: You are the reason that I am standing here today and that I am making my heart almost explode.”
Bruce and his band offered a fast-paced concert for almost three hours. Springsteen says he didn't come all the way to Bern to “just” rock the house, says Springsteen during the show. “We want to build a house of love, hope and happiness.” he preaches from the stage, making you almost want to shout “Hallelujah” at the top of your lungs. It also became clear in Bern that Springsteen doesn't just want to provide entertainment for one evening. He sees his music as a means against “sadness and despair”.
As mentioned before, I'm not really a Springsteen fan, but it was good to see yesterday that there are still musicians of the old guard who focus on the music and the fans, not the show and glamor. It is admirable how the man, almost 60 years old, plays one piece after the other for 3 hours without a break and simply gives everything. The only downer for me was the hiking priest insert, which shouldn't have been like that for me. Abr äbe, I already know why I prefer music from long-haired, tattooed, bad boys It's only Rock 'n' Roll, but I like it!

My words, my words. A Rock'n'Roll Thunder! The only downer, the sausages are such a thing in Bern. I also wrote my concert and Wurscht review with a little delay: http://www.pixelfreund.ch/2009/07/bruce-springsteen-und-das-vogel-lisi/
Not only in Bern, the sausage is usually not an issue and, unfortunately, is exactly what it is ...
