Friends, I like this cover and even before the first sounds of the second Jokers record hit your ears, the visual impression of the cover has already raised some expectations! This muscular Doctor in Mad Max style, who rises from a grave between the tombstones of Jimi Hendrix and Bon Scott, somehow reminds of Iron Maiden's Eddi incarnate and would easily pass as a Marvel hero. Must there still be something about the music of "The Jokers”Be said? Hell yeah! The bluesy hard rock is actually located exactly between the guitar god Hendrix and the hard rocking blues of AC / DC. Not too soft, not too heavy. With the music of “The Jokers” you don't quarrel for long, you get a taste for it straight away. Her pithy rock'n'roll goes straight to the stomach and legs, has groove and blues and shines with great melodies and powerful riffs.
The Jokers are the brothers Paul and Simon Hurst (guitar and bass), Chris Poole (drums) and singer and front man Wane Parry. Their debut album “The Big Rock'n Roll Show” was released in 2009 and achieved amazing sales within a few months. The album was named album of the month by the British magazine “Powerplay” in July 2009 and was generally praised for its great quality. Countless shows followed in dingy clubs and dubious taverns, which had only one goal for the four musicians: to make The Jokers known and to grow artistically. “We're a hard-working band that plays as much as possible and is constantly learning,” explains Paul Hurst. "With us everything is honest and authentic, our goal is: to be successful and make people happy."
The fans of this fabulous band will surely be happy with the latest album “Rock'n Roll Is Alive”. With this name, the album didn't get a particularly original name, but with authentic, classical and powerful rock music, nobody asks for that. It's actually no wonder that this hot and hungry young band from Liverpool has everything that makes honest and authentic rock music: in a country like England, where the long tradition of legendary groups such as The Who, Free, Mott The Hoople, The Faces or Led Zeppelin speaks a clear language, in 2013 the breeding ground for young, promising formations continues to be ideal. The band together with producer Andy MacPherson (Eric Clapton, The Who, Barclay James Harvest, The Buzzcocks) bagged a really dirty piece of rock'n roll.
The eleven numbers on the new album are convincing. Songs like the wonderfully groovy opener “Silver City”, the “Radio” based on sophisticated arpeggio guitars, which contains a bit of ZZ Top, a pinch of Kiss and a dash of Heaven's Basement and which are deliberately free-oriented “Find My Way Home” important cornerstones of the album. “Of course we were able to develop further as a band and composer through the many concerts,” says Paul Hurst happily, “on our debut we were financially and artistically much more limited, this time with Andy we had a producer who believed in us and said: ' Don't worry about the cost, you only pay as much as you can afford. '”Spread over almost two years,“ The Jokers ”worked with producer Andy Macpherson on“ Rock'n'Roll Is Alive ”for a total of five months. “Today we are stylistically clearer than four years ago,” says Hurst, describing the audible differences between the 2009 debut and the current album. You can feel that today we are even more proud of our songs and really love every single note on Rock'n'Roll Is Alive. " And that's exactly what you can hear on the disc!
The disc will be released on August 30, 2013 via Steamhammer / SPV and will delight all rock music fans. Hurst: “We have noticeably developed further in the past 24 months and are now presenting an album that rightly bears its title. Rock'n'Roll is an attitude towards life, it means freedom, tolerance and self-realization. Our new disc reflects all of this perfectly. " I agree with you! The four-man troupe is a prime example of how to transport classical rock music into the present, while neither denying the illustrious past of this music genre nor lacks modernity and topicality. Their second album "Rock'n'Roll Is Alive" is a celebration for all fans of classical rock music and is deeply rooted in the 1970s and of course there is the sound that "The Jokers" play, also from countless other bands, but as long as the music It's fun, I don't care - and the album is undoubtedly fun!
