Mono Inc. - The GluttonMonomania is a term from the psychiatric disease theory of the early 19th century and means something like individual madness as opposed to complete madness. In 2003 this term was the template for naming the Hamburg band mono inc and hit 10 years later in 2013 mono inc another chapter in her work! Joachim Witt and Mono Inc. mastermind Martin Engler have become close friends since Witt's last CD and so they came up with the idea of doing a joint number. But when it came to the question of who should sing in which language, the two didn't initially get along. But when Witt had written an English verse and Martin a German refrain, the brains of both of them really became active. The love of music has connected the two poles and with “Nimmermehr” the Hamburg rock band succeeds in reinventing themselves, staying true to their sound and yet bringing a new Mono Inc. dimension onto the market. The much-noticed predecessor “After the War” was already a winner, and now the new album “Nimmermehr” is another great moment of atmospheric rock entertainment.

As already mentioned, Martin Engler and Joachim Witt are close friends and celebrate their “Club of Living Poets” every week. Joachim benefits from the fact that Martin is an excellent cook; Witt himself can't do anything at the stove, but enjoys exquisite dishes. As part of this “Living Poets Club” absurd ideas arise. One of them was to do a joint number, which at first glance wasn't surprising, but when it came to the question of who should sing in which language, the two of them didn't really get along at first, because traditionally Witt sings in German and Engler in English. But when Joachim wrote an English verse and Martin a German refrain, the brains of both of them really became active. The result is a song in which Martin was inspired by Joachim to keep the German chorus, whereupon Joachim contributed a purely German verse. The result goes by the name “No way too far” and “should give people courage,” said the Mono Inc. singer and Witt in unison.

Carried by this inspiration, a few songs in German were created almost in a flash, which the band is very happy about. “Standing still would mean creative death for us, which is why we have taken this step and are eager to present the new facet to the fans.” Musically, Mono Inc. can be classified between alternative and dark rock and their albums are carried by a serious, sometimes dark mood. Common themes that come up are loss and separation. In addition to the band members' main instruments in the form of guitar, bass and drums, other instruments are used at concerts, for example Martin Engler likes to use acoustic guitar and piano. Although the band comes from Germany and, apart from a few concerts abroad, primarily performs there, Mono Inc.'s lyrics have so far been in English without exception. With “Nimmermehr” German lyrics are used for the first time, which shine with lyricism and poetry and the great melodies are immediately catchy. A year after the top 10 album “After the War”, Mono Inc. presents itself confidently with new and established influences and continues to storm unstoppably on its way to monomaniacal world domination.

With the first track, the album has an opener that really packs a punch. This upbeat, catchy number caught my ear the first time I heard it and took root there. Take a popular nursery rhyme, have a child recite it, turn it into the catchiest possible chorus, underline it with an NDH riff, add a keyboard carpet to the filling and you have a perfect hit. After six English-language albums, the first song in German is at its very best and since I first heard it, I've found myself whistling the song to myself again and again. The song will definitely fill the dance floors at the next gothic party. And even if you ultimately don’t like the song: “Three days of rain, three days of snow, then it won’t hurt anymore.” The enthusiastic style of the Hamburg quartet grew over the years into an interesting and enjoyable mixture of many tried and tested components that are familiar to the alternative rock genre. The numerous hit melodies on this current album are once again, and as you would expect from this band, as unusual as snow in the Sahara.

“Nimmersatt” impresses with its truly enormous variety and you can always notice new subtleties in all the pieces. I wasn't aware of the dark gothic rock/pop formation with Martin Engler (vocals), Katha Mia (drums), Carl Fornia (guitar) and Manuel Antoni (bass) until the Greenfield Festival, but the convincing live performance was magnificent Power liked it. For this reason I was of course excited about the new album. The whole disc is characterized by a certain warmth, which is reinforced by Joachim Witt's voice. “Everything that stays”, which is performed in a somewhat more orchestral manner, is equally likely to be a hit. After quieter pieces “Euthanasia” and “A better way to die”, which is carried by Martin’s deep, melancholic voice, “The clock ticks on” is convincing and is followed by another catchy tune, “Herzschlag”. I can easily imagine “Days like this” while driving on the highway. Even with the slow “I don’t share you”, the rocking “Seligigkeit” and the driving “My Deal with God” the high quality of the songwriting and production can be maintained. This strong record ends melancholically and contemplatively with “Nimmermehr”.

Mono Inc. can convince across the board with their latest work. From the track selection to the instrumentation to the cover artwork, everything seems extremely harmonious. Musically somewhere in the big world between Eisbrecher, Oomph!, The Cure, HIM and Nick Cave, the listener is presented with a silver disc full of hits that makes you want to experience the band live. The typical Mono Inc. sound becomes apparent after the first few seconds, as the band has remained true to their style despite the new German lyrics. With equally emotional and catchy song structures, Mono Inc. have an optimal platform for their sophisticated and sophisticated playing skills. Musically, the record is more mainstream-oriented, which doesn't mean that this work is bad just because it switched to mass-compatible music. On the contrary, the album is not just a “must-have” for fans! The new album will be available in stores on August 9, 2013 and anyone who enjoys the music of Rammstein, Eisbrecher, Oomph! or mega heart, this disc should pull in!

  1. Heal, heal blessings

"Dravens Tales from the Crypt" has been enchanting for over 15 years with a tasteless mixture of humor, serious journalism - for current events and unbalanced press reporting politics - and zombies, garnished with lots of art, entertainment and punk rock. Draven has turned his hobby into a popular brand that cannot be classified.

My blog was never designed to spread news, let alone get political, but with current affairs I just can't help but capture information here that is otherwise censored on all other channels. I'm aware that the design page may not seem "serious" to many in this regard, but I won't change it to please the "mainstream". Anyone who is open to non-state-compliant information sees the content and not the packaging. I've tried enough to provide people with information over the last 2 years, but quickly noticed that it never matters how it is "packaged", but what the other person's attitude towards it is. I don't want to put honey on anyone's mouth to meet expectations in any way, so I'll keep this design because hopefully at some point I'll be able to stop making these political statements, because it's not my goal to go on like this forever ;) I leave it up to everyone how they deal with it.
