The Finnish band «Amanita Virosa» calls their sound «Hospital Metal» and it shines with supersonic guitar riffs accompanied by overwhelming drums and vocals that hit the nail on the head. «Amanita Virosa» play metal in its purest form. Vocally excellent, lyrically on a high level and the music is just so great that no neck can stay still and that's where the circle to «Hospital Metal» closes, because the sound is headbanging until the doctor comes!
«Amanita Virosa» hail from Mikkeli, Finland and were founded in 2008. Over the years the band matured into their current formation and now consists of Jere Korpela (vocals), Tore Pedersen (guitar), Pekka Paalanen (lead guitar), Juho Oinonen (bass), Toni Moilanen (drums) and Cantor Satana ( Keyboards), who was the last to join the troupe. On June 12th the debut album "Asystole" will be released, which consists of nine tracks that come with the necessary brutality and tell stories of hate and grief, mental distress, desperation and overcoming, losing and winning and so its listeners in the spell.
Anyone who has now wondered what "Hospital Metal" is, after listening to this disc, one can say that it is obviously a mixture of melodic death metal riffing, which comes along at breakneck speed, paired with mean vocals, like known in black metal combined with the majestic atmosphere of power metal. All of this makes for an interesting mix that often works well, although there are occasional slips that don't quite add up. Again and again the sound elements collide, which mostly just fits, but still a lot is demanded of the listener, when the almost romantic sounding keyboards in harmony with the deadly growls even complement each other contrary to the expectations. There is also a lot on offer on the guitar, for example you should definitely listen to the solo in the song «Valuta Vereni Tähän Maahan»!
«Amanita Virosa» know their craft and deliver a really successful debut with «Asystole», with strong songs and a good sense of their own musical style. Overall, the song structures follow a certain pattern and show a good sense of song flow, even though the tone of a particular melody changes every now and then. "Asystole" is adventurous, dramatic, angry and grabs the listener from the start and stylistically leads them down the path of "Hospital Metal" in a way that has never been heard from a band before. It also becomes clear that each of the six members has a different taste, which is also reflected in the songs. 6 ways to feel, 6 ways to create, 6 ways to express. «Amanita Virosa» have taken an idiosyncratic path with their debut «Asystole» and anyone who likes special, metaloid sounds should definitely get the album!
