The Thrashers of have been fighting each other since 1986 Accu§er through the world of metal and the latest release "Diabolic" is therefore already the ninth long-player of the band. Accu§er have never sounded so mad with rage, because the blazing embers of the mad anger blinds and the winners hit it hard without batting an eyelid. Luckily, Accu§er didn't let themselves be infected by the New Wave trend from overseas, they thrash in the old way and if you already liked the newer releases like "Agitation" or "Dependent Domination", you're guaranteed to love the newest album Have fun. The current work manages to match the quality of the best Accu§er albums and even surpasses them in many parts.
Accu§er were founded in Siegen in 1986 and found their very own musical niche with their sound between Bay Area Thrash Metal and the sound of German representatives such as «Kreator» or «Destruction». Unlike big names like Kreator, Sodom and Destruction, one of the first German thrash metal bands could only draw attention to itself within the scene. The band was denied international success, while some successes were achieved within Germany. After a few line-up changes, the band split up in 1996 due to a lack of commercial success and musical differences, but in 2008 they regained their place in the thrash metal scene with full power. In May 2010 there will be new material with great classic trash riffs, melodic leads and virtuoso solos with «Agitation». Together with producer Martin Buchwalter (Destruction, Suidakra) the album "Dependent Domination" is created and now Accu§er follow suit and their new album "Diabolic" will be released on April 12th. Accu§er show themselves from their best side, Bullit Belt Thrash at Neck breaking speed and this with a very own touch.
On «Diabolic» there are ten tracks in the middle of the Thrash face, full on the twelve, so to speak. After a progressively plucked intro, Herr Schmidt's fingers fly punky as ever over the fretboard of his guitar. Already during the first songs it becomes clear that there will be no escape from this steamroller. The title track "Diabolic" is underlaid with a nice groove, boldly bangs away again and again, builds in some gentle delays and in addition to the pissed-off vocals, which sometimes fades out with a bit of reverb, it's the solos, which always flit like crazy, that are wonderful set appropriate accents and give the songs a high recognition value. Despite all the Thrash, the fan doesn't have to do without a bit of variety, the surprisingly sophisticated tempo changes are just as convincing as the deep shouts that complement the blast beats of the drums. There is also nothing to complain about with the vocals, on the contrary, one or the other reminds me of the great Chuck Billy.
Solos, instrumental endings and transitions as well as a few colorful nuances like the screaming horror in "Deification" are the eyes of the storm, in which you can catch your breath before all hell breaks loose again and the entire burden of the world collapses on you. In "Cannibal Insanity" acoustic and electric guitar compete for some sequences and with "Deification" you can hear almost slight core impacts. «Dethroned» pushes itself into the foreground through the almost melodic approach of the lead guitar and it is remarkable how precise and unerring the whole band is. It's not just about hitting the XNUMX all the time, but songs like the title track, "Apocalyptic Decay", "Beyond The Blackness" or "Save Your Legends" inspire with melodic, original riffs, rhythmic dangling and almost always memorable refrains. Even with the long track "World Wide Violence" there is no room for boredom.
At no time does the listener have the slightest idea that the reins could slip out of your hands for a second. Even if the songs usually come with an overly long playing time, words like boredom or dulling to death are absolutely out of place. Accu§er take their chance and release an unexpectedly strong album with «Diabolic», which was definitely not to be expected after «Dependent Domination». On «Dependent Domination», especially towards the end of the season, some of the songs sounded a bit uniform, on «Diabolic» the suspense is maintained. Also, while the band's Bay Area influences can still be heard, Accu§er now sound more like themselves than ever. The really ingenious guitar solos should be given special mention at this point, which always represent a real highlight of the respective song and both technically impress and shine with fine melodies.
Accuser don't play it safe, because the songs all break the five-minute mark, ten songs in more than sixty minutes of pure Thrash power. Although you're softened up for more than an hour, the experienced steelhead doesn't lie in ruins at the end, but grins blissfully. Lyrically, Accu§er have always been one of the pleasantly critical spirits and this album is no exception. Instead of daring complex experiments, they cut wood for a full hour until the forest has said goodbye to nirvana. Deep guitars and high solos, catchy mid-tempo anthems and unpredictable blast beats, hardcore punk attitude and metal sound - this album sits between the chairs and is proud of it. And rightly so, because I wouldn't bet on another thrash album this year cleaning your ear canals with such snorting and raging noise. So friends, throw away your scythe and get on the combine harvester, because with «Diabolic» I currently have a favorite album and I think it is a hot contender for the title «Thrash Album of the Year».
